Kanye West‘s history dealing with the paparazzi has been nothing short of explosive in recent years. With two highly-publicized outbursts against paparazzi in the last 12 months, there is no denying the paparazzi’s uncanny ability to get under the famous rapper’s skin.
West’s most recent confrontation with Los Angeles’s infamous herd of relentless celebrity photographers didn’t land him in any trouble with the authorities, but Kanye is still dealing with a civil suit as a consequence of the run-in, where he physically confronted a badgering photographer and smashed his camera.
In a deposition for his civil trial filed by photographer Daniel Ramos, Kanye went into some family detail about his father’s past as a paparazzo. Said Kanye:
My father was a paparazzo himself.
West went on to say his parents didn’t raise him to “be out here wrestling with random paparazzi here in front of LAX.” He also described his relationship with the paparazzi, which according to him, aren’t nearly as negative as everyone else perceives. He apparently respects the paparazzi and gets along with them from time to time. Apparently Ramos, the plaintiff, took it too far in this particular instance, asking West too much “dumb sh*t.”
Kanye’s father was said to have held positions in a number of other interesting professions: medical illustrator, marriage counselor and Black Panther, according to TMZ.
